It was a short week, but it was packed with a lot of action and fun! We managed to squeeze in a math assessment on place value and writing number words. We also worked on rewriting the ending of the story, "The Great Ball Game." Instead of the Bat joining the Animals team, the children had to imagine Bat joining the Birds and then rewrite the ending. Some kids chose to have the Animals hibernate for the winter as their penalty. Others decided to have the Animals run south for the Winter.
We celebrated Halloween on Thursday by having a small class party. Families brought yummy treats to eat. Mrs. Payawal put together the Halloween Activity Packets, and Mrs. Slotnick came in to make cute lollipop spiders and ghosts with the Stars. It was a short and sweet celebration!
After our math test on Friday morning, the students spent time with their buddies. They created a cute bat finger paining together and thenwent to the Harvest Festival. It was such a treat to see the second graders and sixth graders playing games and having fun together! The Rally was a huge hit as well. Cassidy, Tristan, Addison and Amanda represented the second graders in the Halloween games and did a wonderful job.
It was such a pleasure to meet with all of the parents during conference night. The first quarter was a learning time for us all. Here's looking to a successful second quarter. :-)
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
