Second grade is fortunate to have Mrs. Fondacabe work with us in reading. She began working with us this week and will continue coming every Tuesday to help us in growing as readers. During LA workshop students worked in groups on collaborative, partner, and individual activities around reading, phonics, and writing. We read a "Frog and Toad" story and began learning about how to write a paragraph.
In Religion, the students learned more about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. They also reflected on how they are like Jesus and show others his love.
During math, students focused on the important parts of an addition problem: the addends and the sum. We also talked about related addition and how to write a proper addition sentence.
In Science, we focused more on inquiry skills and which tools can be used to help us make observations. Next week, our class will see Ms. Githere for Science Lab!
In other news, we had our hearing tests done and I was told that all second graders passed! We also said goodbye to our friend Gabby.
I am till getting my bearings around the curriculum and figuring out the best ways to implement systems in our classroom, so thank you for your patience.
Please remember to turn in your Fall Festival Basket donations by Wednesday, September 2nd. Thank you!
