Now that the first full week of school is in the books, the class and I are starting to get into the groove of school. This week, we dived right into our curriculum.
In Religion, the class learned about the Blessed Family and the Holy Trinity. The class reviewed their first grade math skills such as basic addition and subtraction to ten, identifying regular shapes, telling time, counting coins, and reading tally charts. We also recorded each child's height. I can't wait to see how tall they will be at the end of the year!
In Reading, the students read a short story about Arthur and how he and his sister, D.W., went on a hunt around town for words. They also learned a bit about Braille and how it helps those who may be blind to read. In Social Studies, the class has begun to learn about how families from the past are alike a different from families today. Lastly, in Science, the class has begun learning about Inquiry skills.
